Shh!—Quiet by Design

Polina is an acoustic light designed for Focal Point to outperform the sound absorption of standard mineral-fiber ceiling tiles while matching the light output of commercial luminaires. To achieve this, VentureSource collaborated with Becker Brakel, our manufacturing partner, to engineer a innovative three-layer molded PET felt solution: a white inner layer for light reflection, a lofted core for sound absorption, and a dense outer layer for sound blocking. The result—a lightweight, moldable material with a 70% NRC—surpasses the 60% NRC of traditional ceiling tiles.
